Sports For A Better Life

"The sound mind is in the sound body" is an ancient beautiful norm that remains powerful and trustful up till now for children, youth and adults. Sport is enjoyable for everyone, and we should practice it not only in summer vacation, but also throughout the whole year.

Practicing sport and physical activities increase our ability of learning through affecting our mental abilities. Many studies have pointed out that students sharing in sport competitions enjoy more opportunities for completing their studying with success. Moreover, they are more able to reach higher academic levels, as gymnastic education does not care only for the body, but cares also for the mind. Sports help children and youth forming some skills like collective work, which we mostly need for achieving our projects, and how to respect the leadership and its decisions. They learn self-restraint in accepting defeat, self- sacrifice especially in collective games and sportsmanship. It also gives them the courage to express themselves and build their self confidence, sense of achievement and ability to interact with the society positively. Hence, sport helps us knowing how to be part of the group, commit ourselves to law and discipline, respect others' rights and how to work hardly. It grants us the will to reach the top, the hope when failing, the ability to start all over again and the power to achieve excellence in distinct single skills. Conversely, if you did not share in such entertaining and sport activities, you would become a lazy and passive person, which will give a golden chance to bad companions who waste time in nothing, sometimes even in what is harmful.

Accordingly, the International Health Organization urges people, everywhere, to practice sports in order to avoid liability to diseases such as heart diseases, diabetes and obesity. Leading life lazily is considered one of the main ten reasons that a man falls sick and incapable, hence please do not be lazy and move. Movement is power, movement is vitality, movement is outburst, and you do not need giant equipments to practice sports. Sports can be practiced at home, in the street-by walking, in youth centers, and on the beach. And what we should do is moving for achieving a good health for a better life.

Based on the importance of sports, the UN General Assembly announced the year of 2005 to be the international year for sports and gymnastic education, with the aim of encouraging practicing sports as a means of improving education, health, development and peace. This is due to the important role that Sports can play in improving societies' whole lives. It is time now to settle this notion down in the minds to push governments and organizations in to the field of development, advanced thinking and involving sports systematically in helping children plans especially those who live in poverty, diseases and conflicts.

"Sports For All" project is one of the important steps done to encourage all family members to practice sports. As sport is the only way for us to be healthy, we have to be keen on it and practice it to feel the joy of being alive.
